/5What Metaboli thinks
There was some criticism about SC: Pandora Tomorrow saying that it was too much like the original, to which we say: 'Who cares, the original was great and so is this one'.
Ubi have updated loads of stuff from the original, but managed to keep that same gameplay that made it just so cool. They have changed some of the stuff from the original, the graphics (as you would expect) are sweeter, and the infra-red and night vision views are more realistic this time round, but most notable of the changes is the alarm system;
In the first game if you triggered an alarm it was mission over, this time Fisher has a three strikes and you're out alarm system... first time a guard sees you (or finds one of his buddies dead), the guards start wearing bullet proof vests, the second time they start wearing helmets and the third time it's mission over, this makes for a more forgiving game, but you'll really have to learn how to do those one-shot-kill head-shots.
All the gadgets of the first game return... the sticky and distraction cameras, the sticky shocker, the laser mic and the Swiss-army-knife of guns... Fisher's sniper rifle makes a welcome comeback now it's even more fun to headshot a guerrilla-terrorist at 100 paces.
But what really shines out in Pandora Tomorrow is the multiplayer: four players split into two mercenaries and two splinter cell spies in a cat and mouse game where the spies try to capture or deactivate a biological weapon and the mercenaries try to stop them. You'll find yourself trying to outwit your opponents rather than kill them in Pandora Tomorrow multiplayer, a fresh change to the norm of multiplayer run and gun games.
General Knowledge the Metaboli way: Pandora (kalòk kakón in Greek) was a young girl who was warned by the gods not to open a small box containing all that was evil. In a brainless move that is worthy of the idiot of the year award Pandora opened the box to have a look at what was inside, thus releasing evil into the world.
Note: Ubisoft have now turned off their online multiplayer servers for Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow, but you can still play the fantastic Splinter Cell cat and mouse multiplayer mode in Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and Double Agent
