/5What Metaboli thinks
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory is recognised as the best in the Splinter Cell series to date. Following a story-line meriting that Tom Clancy name and with revamped graphics and gameplay methods plus the new co-op missions and the return of the acclaimed spy vs merc multiplayer you can see why it is the best.
If you haven't played either of the other two Splinter Cells then here is a quick catch-up Metaboli style - you can download Splinter Cell here and Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow here.
Chaos Theory brings back the great mix of sticking in the shadows, hacking into computers, silently sneaking-up behind an enemy then grabbing him and choking an interrogation out of him. It's great fun and Chaos theory makes you feel more like a spy behind enemy lines than any other game, other Splinter Cells included.
And Chaos Theory brings new features to the mix: Chaos is much more multi-path than the previous Splinter Cells; it lets you choose the way you are going to defeat your foe, sneak up behind him, slash him with the knife (Sam's brand-new knife), drop from above and break his neck (oh yes, all the great moves are there including the split jump). Basically Chaos feels a lot less like a search for the solution than the other games.
Chaos is also the best looking; great animations on both Sam and the bad-guys really make for a game which feels right, shadows are done with magnificence (you'll be spending so much time in them they should) and the locales are gorgeous. This time around Sam will be making his way through a missile base, a cargo ship and breaking into a bank after taking a pause in a Japanese country home.
This globe-trotting is reflected in the co-op mode where you and a friend can team up and take down the terrorists. But what makes the co-op really attractive is the moves that you can do as a team including the human ladder and the throwing of team-mates
So break out your knife, strap on those night vision goggles and stick to the shadows, Fisher is back.
