The gaming press slammed this game when it came out. However, I watched a few vids of it on youtube and decided to give it a go. The graphics, sound effects and music are very good, level design is good, but can become repetitive at times. The way the developers depict the smashed city is awesome. The character animation and cutscenes needed a bit more work. The thing that spoils it is the gameplay. It uses the standard WASD FPS controls but somethings not right about the player movement, the movement code needed a little more development time thrown at it and the sprint engery runs out too fast (the guy must be a heavy smoker :). Also it's too much of a corridor shooter. Sometimes I had the feeling of "well, I did want to explore down there but this overturned desk, which I cant jump over is blocking my way." and things like doors that can't be opened and just serve as scenery give the feeling that you're missing out on something. So a few final words. It's NOT a "half-life 2" killer, that's for sure. BUT it is worth downloading and playing once. The huge tentacled monster at the River Thames is fun. If I had paid full price I would be disappointed.
