Everything was going fine for the mercenary group "the7", until Venezuela. Thinking that the rest of the group were dead, Kane scarpers with the loot, only to be arrested when he gets back to America, charged with manslaughter and sentenced to death. But when being transferred to death row there's an escape, an escape Kane didn't plan; it seems that not all of the7 are dead, they've kidnapped Kane's wife and daughter, and they want their money back. Lynch is assigned to watch over Kane's shoulder and report back to the7 on his progress. So it's back into the gangster underworld for this ex mercenary and his psychopath shadow. In this spectacular gangster thriller from IO Interactive, the makers of the Hitman series, it's the anti-hero you'll be playing; the most unscrupulous of the unscrupulous; a serial killer with just one more thing to lose: his family. You'll be fighting your way through an excellently written story with brutal scenes over many varied and brutal missions.

Though the game you'll be playing as Kane, with Lynch controlled by the computer with a very clever AI system that listens to your orders, uses cover and can actually kill bad guys (which may technically be good guys, as he's a psychopathic killer, but let's not nit-pick).

Following the action formula you'll be going through alternating gunfights (of the huge variety) and cut scenes (of the bloody and thrilling variety). The game masterly controls the dark atmosphere; Kane's ice-cold dialogue and Lynch's slightly demented ones both feel authentic and their interaction with the other characters is really well scripted.

Completely third person, some players may have a little trouble at the beginning with the right-hand side aiming system. But after the first mission throwing you straight in the action, you'll soon get used to it. But it's a system that works really well and combined with the excellent graphics and the interesting gameplay elements (like throwing back a grenade) this is one action game that deserves to be played. And whilst you play ask yourself this: are you more Kane, or more Lynch?
